Take off first thing in the morning
See most of you at Christmas.
One more Sleep!
We have some running around to do today, including trying to see as many grandchildren as possible all decked out in their Halloween costumes.
Myrtle seems ready for the trip. We should be able to wake up in the morning, shower, eat, grab our pillows and begin our Turtle down on the Road.
Wish us well!

5 days to go
I remember driving the tractor bringing in the hay and I was so young I had to stand on the clutch with both feet to be able to push it in. They were always yelling at me for letting it out too fast. I also remember when we would bring in the corn silage and we had to go in the silo and tramp it down while they were blowing it in. When it got to the top we had to put snow fences 2 high around the top. When it was full i had to climb down the fence to the ladder. It was only 50 feet to the ground.Could you imagine letting your kids do that today? Old memories..
Found out today the generator cant be fixed so we are leaving with out one.
The only thing I did today was get all my drugs ready for the trip. Boy that's a lot of drugs.I think I'm an old person.
And I put my winter coat in the Turtle. OH ya i stopped at the Bank and got some American money it's sure nice having the dollar at par.

7 more sleeps
Oh my goodness...only 1 week until we begin our journey Turtling on Down the Road. Yikes!
I am so excited, yet nervous. Neither Gerry nor I are very healthy and we are broke! I think if the two of us can do this, then anyone can. Gerry suffers from intense, long lasting, frequent migraines and has a pain disorder. I have a bad back, nasty knees and am on medication for Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. Good thing we love each other, because I’m telling you...we are high maintenance! J
With Gerry’s pain disorder we have learned that the cold intensifies his pain, so it makes sense that we go south for the winter. We live in Crystal Beach, a small cottage community where most people come to only for the summer. Our little home will not stand out all boarded up for the winter, in fact we always stood out until this winter. Only a few neighbours stay to endure the snow, and lack of services during the winter.
Our plan is to drive only short bursts at a time, and hole up whenever we have to. There are a lot of RV campsites along our route, and many places don't mind if you pull over and park on their property for a night. After a two or three week layover in New Orleans we will eventually make it the 2,900 miles to a little Mexican town called Aticama on the west coast.
I can’t imagine being away from my family for the whole winter, so thankfully we have to fly home for a few doctor’s appointments that just happen to fall around Christmas time and my grandsons 12th birthday in February. I think I can handle 6 weeks at a time away....maybe....oh I am going to be homesick! Gerry thinks we should come home for a week at a time, I think three weeks sounds good! Maybe we will comprise. Thank goodness for the internet. I will have to get used to Skype.
I love Mexico. I sure hope it’s going to love me! Yup, I am very very excited...but yet so trepidatious.
7 Days to go
Then i got Brenda to load all my clothes in to Turtle. So both jobs done and i hardly even worked up a sweat.
I went to the bank to get some US dollars but i couldn't get any because there head Cashier wasn't there. What a great bank.So i get to go back again tomorrow.
Then to the Drug store and got all my prescriptions filled for the winter.
Then i needed a rest it was a busy day.

8 Days too go
Worked on the wind generator for the house.Got it working so it is plugged into the grid. And checked the solar panels on the roof all seem good.So when we are away we shouldn't have a hydro bill.
Found another leak in the Turtle hopefully I got it all plugged.
The guy fixing the gas generator is having a problem trying to get it to work so maybe no generator.I don't think we will need one but if it gets to hot we will have to get one,or stay in camp grounds when it is real hot.

Count down 11 days till take off
We are waiting for the generator to be fixed. Then we need to figure how to hook it to the back of the Turtle.Along with the bikes and lawn chairs.Oh ya a gas can,one more to the list. Then lock them so they don't disappear the first night.
And blogging I cant even spell and grammer I have heard of that some place. So Right here and now I'm apologising for all the errors to come,Then again if you can't take it no one is making you read this.
The idea is to let you all know where we are and what we did every day.But we will have to be able to get an Internet connection so we might miss a day here and there. So don't worry if we are not on here every day.
OK enough for today.Back to the piles, the leave here is way too small.
