After we left the ruins it was only about 10 miles to the border. Now that was fun first I had to Beg the Mexican border guard to let me leave she said I had to leave from where I came in. Brenda and Lara had already gone through so they were stuck, or I was. Finally a guy came over and let me go. Then I had to get in a Taxi and go into town in Guatemala to get photo copy's of my ownership and license then back to the border. It took a while to get in the country but it all worked out in the end.The drive took about an hour and a half and the road we better than Belize other than about 3 kilometers. Brenda waiting for me at the boarder.
. Lara was in charge of the camera on the drive I guess she likes pigs
see what I mean.
We got to the park Tikal and had to wait for 2 hours to get in Because if you wait till 3pm it covers the next day so you get a day and a half for the same price. So like usual the girls needed food so they ordered Lara was a little put off about the fish with the head still on
So after we checked in to our rooms at the Jungle Lodge had to get 2 rooms because they had no rooms for 3 people. The place was nice you had to share a bathroom with 30 other people but it was fine. This is the location of our room. Jungle all around us.
So right away we headed to the park it is about a half mile walk.
And this is the first ruin that
By the light you can tell it is getting late in the day.
The size of some of these was amazing
And the size of the place was bigger than I expected. They have more restored ruins than any other ones that I can remember.
I even got in a picture.
This is one that they have not dug out there is over 3000 buildings that they know about and have only explored 10% of them They say they may never get them uncovered. The place is 16 square miles they estimate that at one time there was over 250000 people living here.
This was the last picture of the day I had to get the girls to head back the sun had set and they didn't get that in the jungle it was going to be dark. After I finally got them moving they realized that it was getting dark fast they were saying we should walk faster. It all turned out good and we were in bed early because we had to be up at 4am for a sunrise show on top of the largest ruin. but that is tomorrows story.
