Hogar Infantil

We left San Cristabal this morning after we did some grocery shopping. We only traveled about 60 kilometers. So it was an easy day and it felt like we were going down hill most of the time. It was so easy that all we did today was cleaning some repairs and I drove to town for some water. The girls never even left the trailer it was cool out but not as bad as San Cristabal. Hogar Infantil is a Childerens home just outside the town of Ocozocoautla. They have 4 pull thru site's.and they will not take any money they do hope if you enjoy your stay you will support them thru there charity in the US.
It seams to me to be a well kept place with lots of happy children.

This is our spot and next to us is a family from Quebec have not talked to them much.

This building had a bunch of young boys maybe 5 to 8 years old.

This building was all girls.

Didn't see any one at this building

This little one kept asking to have his photo taken cute little guy.

They have a barn with pigs I guess they all have chores there was some older boys working in here.

Then a teacher came in showing the pigs to the Quebec kids and the friends they have made here.

The chicken and duck building.

And there own church

Tomorrow we are driving the Tracker to Sumidero Canyon to take a boat trip it is said to be pretty nice with the towering cliffs on both sides. Wait and see let you know tomorrow.

  1. We have stayed at Hogar Infantil as well and loved it. One day 3 of the younger boys aged between 9-12 or so came with us for a walk up into the hills behind the orphanage. We had a great time with them. They also have a few more RV spots up by the main building itself.

The boat ride is great in the canyon and because you have a Tracker you could also go up into the National Park and drive to the top of the canyon and look down. It has beautiful views of the canyon that way as well. Also in the city of Tuxtla Guiterrez they have a great zoo that only has wildlife from Mexico itself. www.travelwithkevinandruth.com/2009/02/hogar-infintil-orphanage.html the next day's post tells about the trip up into the National Park, so that will give you an idea of what you see if you decide to go as well.

    3. Nope, nothing up that is out of whack! We had always planned on driving from Puerto Vallarta up to Mazatlan then over to Durango and up to the Copper Canyon and then into Arizona. We have never traveled through Arizona and north in the motorhome and wanted to do something different for a change. Also Sherman needed some attention and some of the best places for parts and prices are in Arizona.

    5. We haven't driven that route in the motorhome but we did do it in the Little Blue Car back in February 2013. There is a camping spot at Puerto Arista (It is in the Mexico Camping book) but I am pretty sure that you could stop in many of these little towns or beach towns and find a spot to park in a hotel or restaurant parking lot and pay 100 pesos or so and maybe even hook up to power. This is our post to Puerto Arista and the post the next day it to Tapachula. www.travelwithkevinandruth.com/2013/02/huatulco-to-puerto-arista.html
