Butterfly

The most amazing butterfly visited our campsite today.   It is absolutely gorgeous with it's wings closed.

Then what an amazing surprise to see the bright blue when it spread its wings.

We were told there was a Mercedes dealership in Playa del Carmen, so we decided to take another trip into town.    There was a Mercedes parts department, they said they would email me when they found out how much the door latch would cost, and how long it would take to get here from Germany.   In the meantime, we have an appointment with the Mercedes dealership next Wednesday so they can try to fix the latch....knowing full well they will then have to order it.   They said if it is made in Mexico they can get one in 6 days, otherwise it could take up to 20 days to get it from Germany.  sigh...we just might be waiting until we get back to Canada before we get that door latch fixed.   We are getting pretty good at climbing into the passengers side through the drivers door.

Cozumel, from Playa del Carmen

This area was fairly touristy 6 years ago when we were here, NOW, it is extremely touristy.   It's still fun though.   On the ocean side of highway 307 you have the tourist section, on the west side of 307 you have real Mexico.    The 307 is only a few short blocks from the ocean.    After we walked down Calle 5 (5th street), we headed to the grocery store on the other side of town to pick up a six pack of beer at 1/4 the price.   :)

It's great to see the women's movement making strides in Mexico.   We have both noticed an increase in women in traditional male roles such as police, military, hotel management and mechanic.
