We finally hit the east coast on November 30th and pulled into Mecoloco Campground. The campgrounds themselves are nothing to write home about, but it seems to be home to a fun flock of parrots. I had no idea how fast they are! We had to take a lot of pictures to get these few. Thankfully the opportunities were plentiful.
Ok, this one isn't a parrot, but I didn't know that until after I pulled the pictures off the camera! I love my telephoto lens.
Next door to the Mecoloco campground is this small ruin called Meco. These pictures were taken standing just a few feet away from Myrtle over the fence.
We left Mecoloco Campgrounds this morning and made our way to Xpu Ha. We stopped at Paa Mau campgrounds just long enough to find out they want $1,050.00 U.S. per month, and turn around and leave. We didn't even check it out. We were very happy with Xpu Ha, both it's beach and it's prices.
We are told that the Resorts on the Mayan Riviera and Isla Mujeres bring people here on an excursion to learn to wind surf, and for the amazing beach.
Myrtle has earned a rest. I think she will be happy here for a month, more or less.
