Playa de Los Muertos

The Beach of the Dead.
Sounds ominous, but we didn't find any of the un-dead walking around. The beach is at the far end of a cemetery...so the belief is the souls of the dead are there.

Play de Los Muertos is a beautiful, secluded beach. It is roped off, for safe swimming. When I walked in it, the back eddies were the weakest I have felt on a Pacific Ocean Beach.

We were told it was about a ten minute walk from our campground. It is...but not when you take a wrong turn. We turned left, when we should have turned right and walked up a very steep road, then down another very steep road. We came in beside the cemetery instead of through it. We were smart enough to walk through the cemetery to get back. Does it seem to you that Gerry and I make a lot of wrong turns and do a lot of things the hard way? It sure seems that way to me. Good thing we have a sense of humour about it!

We wouldn't have seen this little fellow if not for the wrong turn:

The cemetery itself was pleasant to walk through.
