Yesterday we didn't go to the water fall the weather was rotten it was a windy day with a lite rain more like a mist all day. I went to town with Brenda to buy the groceries that the girls needed for our meal. That was fun we had a groceries list in Spanish. We had no idea what was on the list we tried to use Google translate but that didn't help. We found a small store and gave the list to the boy that worked there they had every thing except the Limes and cheese. We were in the store and a woman says you speak English and she calls her husband in he was in the car out front he gets out of his car with a baby. So he spoke English and it was more for him to practice his English. He did tell us what was on the list and how to get to market to get the rest of the stuff. He had taken a year of English in school and never gets to use it so he was very happy to talk to us that was fun. Then we headed over to the market for the limes and cheese. And what a market it was it covered about 5 blocks they had just taken over the streets all that could get down the streets are there little 3 wheeled taxis. I wish I would have taken the camera but forgot it. In fact I forgot it twice we went back to the RV and an hour later went back to market with Lara so she could see it. Then at 6 the girls come over with our meal but had to go have a shower first than they would come back and we could eat it. So an hour later they come back all dressed up in there best. And we had a pasta dish they made enough to feed 10 and it was good. The main feature was this they called it a lemon pie. It had peaches on the top and was really good. They were so proud and excited that we liked it. Talk about 2 happy girls.
Boa showing Lara how big to cut the pieces.
Lara was so happy the girls were here. They had a lot of fun giggling and carrying on like young girls do.
Lara got to learn more Spanish they used Google translate for the words we didn't get so it was a fun time, And we got to learn some new words not that I can remember any of them today but I am sure Lara well. By 8.30 they had to leave because school starts at 7 AM They said they would come over tonight again.
The best way to learn any language it so spend time with the locals. Our Spanish has really gotten quite good over the last 7 or so winters spent in Mexico. We always carry around our Spanish/English dictionary with us and we use it often. We still need to do better though, I think we will try doing one of those 2 week intensive Spanish courses next winter, that just might make the difference now.
ReplyDeleteThe kids at the Hogar are so much fun, I glad to see you having such a great time with them. Too bad the weather sucked!
