Remembrance Day 11/11/11, At 11:11:11 a.m., we started our Turtle on Down the road to Abita Springs, Louisiana.

We are at Ocean Canyon Properties, Abita Springs RV Resort, and booked in for two weeks. This is one of the ROD resorts, so we stay here for free for up to 2 weeks at a time. I doubt we will stay that long, but we will see. It is nice here. Evidently they had to capture a rogue alligator out of the pond last week, but usually there aren't any here. There is a Bayou down the path a ways where they are a-plenty, but in order for them to get into this pond they have to travel by land for a while, so they don't come here very often. Hmmm......very often....that is just often enough to keep me from swimming in these here waters!!!!

There is an alligator farm, and a brewery just down the road that we want to take a tour through. It should be interesting. I hope they make a beer without corn in it....Gerry is allergic to corn.

We wanted to go to New Orleans and boondock for a couple of days starting today, but Gerry and I are both under the weather. We were both up half the night, Gerry with a migraine, and me...well, I took my Sprycel kind of late so I couldn't sleep. I also have a cold which is getting worse instead of better, so I think we need to take it real easy for a couple of days. Gerry started throwing up at around 8:00 p.m. last night, and seems to have stopped around 2:00 p.m. today. His migraine is still there, albeit much improved.

It is normal for Gerry and I to be under the weather more often than not. With his pain disorder and migraines, poor Gerry spends far more time in bed than out. Me, I am on leukemia drugs that make me feel ill after I take them for a few hours a day, and they seem to have lowered my immune system because I catch everything that is going around. Oh well, this too shall pass!

As soon as we feel a bit better we are going to rent a car and head down to New Orleans. It is about 30 miles from here, across the worlds longest causeway. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Pontchartrain_Causeway

While in New Orleans we will look for a place where we can boondock for a few days, maybe another casino parking lot. If we find a place we will bring Myrtle down to New Orleans, otherwise we will stick to the rented car and perhaps get a room for a couple of nights.
